James E. “Jim” Daniels of Hillsdale, Michigan passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at the ProMedica Toledo Hospital in Toledo, Ohio. He was born September 30, 1939 in North Adams, Michigan the son of Ralph and Violet (Stuck) Daniels. He is survived by his wife, Ruth (Duby) Daniels, whom he married on October 24, 1959; three children, Rodney Daniels of North Adams, Pamela (Scott) Michael of Reading and Teffney (Bob) Whitcomb of North Adams; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Dorothy (Larry) Aemisegger of North Adams; aunts, uncles and several nieces and nephews and his “four-legged” friend, “Buddy”. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jerry Daniels. Mr. Daniels was an active member of the North Adams United Methodist Church where he was baptized and participated in church plays. He worked at Addison Products until their closing and then worked for SKD in North Adams until his retirement. He was also the co-owner with his brother, Jerry, until his passing in 1996, of J & J Small Engine Repair. He enjoyed spending time with all of his family, especially being active in his grandchildren’s lives attending their sporting events and activities. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who was loved very much and will be sadly missed. A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. James E. “Jim” Daniels will be held at the Hampton-Kurtz Funeral Home in Hillsdale on Friday, January 17th beginning at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Art Turner officiating. Interment will take place in the Northlawn Cemetery in North Adams. The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home in Hillsdale. Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to the ProMedica Toledo Hospital or to the North Adams United Methodist Church or to a charity of your choice.
